Meet Our Staff

Jessie Hopkins

Jessica Hopkins is a legal assistant with Jones & Sasnett, P.A. Her primary responsibilities currently include assisting with real estate closings, deed preparation and wills and estates. A native of eastern North Carolina, Jessie was born in Greenville, North Carolina and resided in Martin County before making her home in Belhaven, North Carolina.

Jessie worked for more than a decade as an EMT and later as an administrative assistant in a physician’s office. Always active within her community, she volunteered with the local fire department and rescue squad. She joined our firm as an administrative assistant, then became a legal assistant with our criminal defense and family law areas of practice. She now works within the firm’s real estate practice area as a legal assistant where she coordinates the real estate transaction from contract to post-closing. 

Her calm and organized approach is an asset to our firm and clients. Jessie resides in Belhaven, North Carolina with her husband, George.

Maria Garcia

Maria Garcia grew up in eastern North Carolina, graduating from Washington High School and continuing her education at Beaufort County Community College. After working with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, she joined Jones & Sasnett, P.A. as a legal assistant where she coordinates scheduling and assists in the firm's litigation and transactional practice areas.


Maria is dedicated to helping people through community and church activities. She and her husband have two children and reside in Chocowinity, North Carolina.

Gavyn DeBerry

Gavyn DeBerry grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and later attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she earned a degree in Criminology with a minor in Pre-Law. After graduating in 2024, Gavyn joined Jones & Sasnett, P.A. as a legal assistant where she wears several hats ranging from accounts manager to working within the firm's litigation areas.


Gavyn resides in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Sherri Cox

Sherri Cox joins Jones & Sasnett, P.A. after a career in business and as an official in federal and state probation. She completed her undergraduate studies at Mount Olive University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She handles new client intake services for the firm's offices and assists in several of the firm's practice areas. 


Sherri and her husband reside in Chocowinity, North Carolina.
